GUIDE : MOTO (Motohiro Hayashi)
Konnichiwa Moto desu! (Hello, I am Moto!)
I was born and raised in Saitama Prefecture where my house was surrounded by rice fields.I had hardly ever climbed a mountain in my childhood. When I was a university student, I went to Nepal for the environmental activity program. I spent about two weeks staying and doing activities with my team and the locals in a small village, not far from Kathmandu. During that time, I had an opportunity to hike to a higher village. When we were there, they welcomed us with dances, songs, alcohol and feast. In the next morning, one of us woke us up and said, "Look at that!'' What I saw was Manaslu, one of the 8000m peaks, shining white in the sunlight. The view is unforgettable. I returned to Japan and fell in love with going to the mountains. In my twenties, I became addicted to trail running, and along the way, I expanded my abilities by skiing in the winter.
At the end of my twenties, I went to NZ for a year. I was lucky enough to work as a hiking guide with locals, and many of the customers told me that "Japan was amazing." I realized that I didn't know that my home country was that nice! These words and thoughts led me to my current job as a mountain guide.
I started MMG (Moto Mountain Guide) to guide mountains in other areas of Japan.

Our hiking areas & features
The hikes in MMG are places based on the areas we have climbed many times.
Our main hiking areas are Northen Japan Alps(Matsumoto), Oku-chichibu and Nikko.
We believe that our hiking places are
-the scenery is so spectacular. Most of them are where you want to take a deep breath away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
-where you can enjoy walking. In Japan, there are places you can catch gondla up, and then you enjoy scenery. It is great, but we chose places that we need to walk to get there. We believe the walking and hiking will enrich your lifetime even if it's a little tough!
-worth sharing the stories behind. Japan has a long and ancient history, and each of these places, without exception, has its own history, culture, and beliefs.
-where public transportations are and are easy to combine with city, town tour around those local areas.
More details are in its each hiking pages.
